    These are not nice people:

This guy was willing to give up his Olympic dream :

The Iranian swimmer, Mohammad Bidarian, has refused to compete with his Israeli rival in the 100-meter freestyle event in Croatia.

Bidarian advanced to the semifinal in the 100-meter breaststroke event after he clocked a time of 52.25 seconds on Thursday morning.

Despite the fact that he had a chance to get an Olympic berth for his country, the 19-year-old Iranian national gave up the competition as he was grouped with an Israeli swimmer on Thursday evening.

Another Iranian swimmer, Mohammad Alirezaei, gained the first Olympic berth in swimming for Iran at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games on Thursday.

I'd say it wasn't much of a dream.

Gotta quit looking at everything through USA-colored glasses, Boom.

True. His real dream was to turn pro and swim in the very lucrative Iranian Swimming League.

But some Iranian journalist didn't write about him enough so he didn't get a scholarship.

Um, 52.25 in the 100 free? I'm sure his family and his country will be devestated they missed out on watching him swim four seconds behind the rest of the world in the prelims.

I thought that as well, DD.

    What a joke.

52.25 would have been a killer time, and good enough for a silver medal ... at the 1968 Olympics.

If Iranian nuclear scientists every get a hold of the technology that the Iranian swim team has unearthed, look out. We are all in trouble.
