Interracial couple denied marriage license in La.

    This is pretty close to where I am, and while I don't agree with what he's doing, I do get where he's coming from. In the Deep South, there is still a bit of a stigma attached to biracial children, and he's correct in his claim that black society is just as guilty of it as whites.

    It's changing slowly, as more inter-racial couples have children, but old attitudes die harder here than anywhere else.

    That said, it really isn't any of his business to speak for a couple and what their offspring might or might not have to go through in the future. He's wrong on this, and there's no way he can legally defend his actions.

    I disagree 100 percent.

    There is almost no stigma attached to the children.

    Some backwards folks may react to the parents, though.

    Here's what I worry about....that he'll be hailed as a hero in his parish, because people will actually believe that he's "acting in the best interests of the children."

    I'm also wondering....any conservatives want to decry this insidious intrustion of the government into our lives?
