Again in 2017, The Columbus Dispatch daily newspaper in Ohio’s capital city has deferred its Sports department internship from the summer to the fall. This means that some enterprising young woman or man can gain experience covering, say, Ohio State football rather than some street-luge race on the lone hill in nearby Kirkersville. Not that there’s anything wrong with street luge, or Kirkersville; just sayin’ there are more sports options available in the fall.
This is a paid internship, reporting duties only, 10 to 12 weeks in length, and opportunities aplenty for enterprise reporting as well as daily-bread material on all sorts of beats. And, yes, we do keep tabs on our good ones; our most recent full-time hire was our 2015 fall intern. Send resumes and a few clips (no columns) to sports editor Ray Stein at rstein@dispatch.com. Act now!
