Except the beer league guys don't skate every morning in practice. They don't go to the gym during the afternoon. They don't bus all over the Midwest. Several years ago, The Hockey News surveyed GMs and scouts and they ranked the ECHL a hair above the UHL-IHL and the UHL-IHL above the CHL. Now, when it comes to a more professionally operated league? Yeah, the CHL and ECHL blow the IHL away. It's not even close. But to call the IHL a glorified "beer league" is totally ridiculous. And to say these guys never got drafted? Well, you need to check out some rosters. Several former NHL players are/were in the IHL this season, including a Stanley Cup winner from the last decade. Yeah, he can't play. Have you ever seen an IHL game?
