Wasn't he also the guy at the NCAA in charge of ripping on reporters all day on Twitter? One of his more notable tweets there: "Notice how folks like @DanWetzel and @PeteThamelNYT post false statements and then never correct them."

Hell of a hire for a journalism outfit.

Yep. First thing people say when I tell them I write sports is, 'I hate Jerry Tipton' and I don't even work for the Herald-Leader! So, yeah, people know the beat writers for certain papers.

For the record, I like Tipton. Great twitter feed called Not Jerry Tipton which is funny too.

  7. Mike Wells goes from Pacers to Indy Star Colts to ESPN Colts beat.

Michael Pointer, formerly of Purdue beat when Star still had it, now apparently on Pacers beat.

Indy had layoffs today. Reporters (those who remain) appear safe.

http://www.ruthholladay.com/ -- the list of those laid off.

I recognize at least one sports clerk, Ralph Leonard, and one sports copy editor, Kim Rogers, who had been there at least 20 years.

The 1HP pipeline alive and well...

Ramos tweet: Thrilled to announce @HolderStephen will join @IndyStarSports as our #Colts writer. Will team with @mchappell51 to form top NFL

Holder helped cover Bucs for St. Pete but started at Herald.
