Matt Holiday and Bobby Crosby both liked working on their hitting with McGwire last winter.

Does McGwire have any experience coaching?

Will he be available to the media?

    Will steroid questions be asked?

And that's why he'll never get the job.

Not your best prediction, A_QB, especially since this story has been up for about three hours.

Yup. I'm very curious to see how the Cardinals are going to handle this.

I'm sure they're going to demand the media not to ask McGwire about his steroid use. LaRussa will probably threaten to start swinging his fungo again if he's not off getting drunk somewhere.

I'm sure the Post-Dispatch & St. Louis fanboi TV guys will comply but nobody else will.

It's going to be fun to watch.

This will be over about a week into spring training, whether or not he decides to address the topic at the outset of camp.

Reporter: Do you have a minute to answer a few questions about ....

    McGwire: No.

Reporter: How about after batting ...

    McGwire: No.

    Reporter: Then how about tomor....

    McGwire: No.

Yeah, I have no idea how McGwire thinks he's going to handle that ... but it ain't gonna be pretty.

He will -- deservedly -- get hounded. No way he can redirect every question to the Cardinals' current hitters instead of himself. Should be interesting.
