    Not even close. Most of America still wasn't wired for cable by even 1990. It was something like 40 percent.

    We got cable for the first time in the summer of 1980. It was just the 12 basic VHF channels. Four local affiliates (two separate ABC stations), a local independent, PBS, CNN, ESPN, TBS, WGN, local weather, Showtime and one other which I can't remember.
