So you believe all Christians are bad people? Is that belief part of your complex economic theory?

    All Christians? Nope.

The Christian values espoused by the right-wing that ignore the history behind them and are used to justify keeping others in a state of inferiority?

    Yep.

Heck, if you really wanted to be technical, America rebelling against King George III went against Christian values. Kings were seen as having a divine right to rule by God.

That whole rebellion thing could have been avoided if the King just raised the minimum wage.

  5. Although many of the Founders were not Christian, the inclusion of Washington and Adams' "examples" is questionable. Washington was invoking an anti-establishment doctrine in the chaplain policy, and the lack of a deathbed statement doesn't prove much. Adams seems to be complaining about organized religion, not about the Christian faith.

And the final part about "In God We Trust" is not credible on its face, as McCarthy was censured in 1954. His "reign of terror" was over by then. In fact, a similar motto was first proposed by Lincoln's treasury secretary in 1961.
The actual addition was, however, a direct response to the Soviet Union, led in large part by the Catholic fraternal organization, the Knights of Columbus.

A vast majority of Americans were quite willing to continue to be ruled by England. The Revolution, at its beginning, was only supported by perhaps a quarter to a third of Americans.

The cause of the Revolution was economic, not religion. Most of the rebels just wanted fairness in taxes and more of a say in their colonial affairs. England's response was, "He's the King, God told him he is, so you will obey him and pay whatever taxes he decides."

The smart colonists who supported the monarchy moved up here. That's why we rock. :)

You're mostly right there. Actually, all rulers are appointed by God, and Christians are under mandate to submit to them (Romans 13:1-2) and pray for their well-being (1 Timothy 2:1-6). It bothers me tremendously when "Christians" on either side show their ignorance (or disdain) for scripture by disobeying it in regards to the leaders in office.

Sorry, mini threadjack/rant over. Carry on.
