Boz Scaggs was a terrific call there. I heard "Lowdown" on some online station the other day and it's still killer. Same with "Lido Shuffle", "Dinah Flo", "Breakdown Dead Ahead" and "Somebody Loan Me A Dime" which was a high point for both him and Duane Allman. What's Boz Scaggs up to these days, anyway?

Hey, how about a little love for Steve Forbert and Willie Nile?

Was that one of those Tony Burrow-helmed cookie-cutter groups?

And the Heywoods did Billy first, but Paper Lace also did a version. BTW, Royko had a great column about all the inaccuracies in The Night Chicago Died.

On the weirder end, there's Gary Wilson:

    And Jim Skafish:

They're singer-songwriters in the sense that they wrote "songs," and "sang" them.

    Pish-posh. That's a great song.

Here's a greater song. Shottie, don't cream your pants.

This doesn't fit singer-songwriter at all, but it's great lost 70s power pop.

I give you Eric Carmen when he was good. I give you the great Raspberries.

Here's a cool version of Go All The Way too.

Sadly, I can't find any vintage footage of Big Star.
