"Importing" apparently an NFL euphemism for "road trip prostitution"

    This is a big story??

Athletes have been importing road talent since the invention of road trips.

A little bizarre for anyone over the age of 14 to be shocked, simply shocked.

Never knew a ballplayer who would pay a dime to import someone unless it was someone special. It would be rare for a player to pay for someone who was unknown to them, unless that person had been recommended by a peer.

Can't imagine there's an NFL city (OK, maybe Green Bay) where there isn't a talent pool of local women willing and readily available. After all, on an NFL trip, you're probably talking about one evening with a curfew and team-hired security on the floors occupied by the players. Teams usually try to keep a pretty tight leash on the players.

By the way, most players are notorious for their thriftiness when it comes to "dates." I knew a story where a woman complained that her baseball player didn't take her to dinner. To show his thoughtfulness, he produced a couple pieces of foil-wrapped fried chicken that he had taken from the post-game clubhouse spread.

No, this isn't a big story. And, yes, anyone who is paying attention is aware this type of thing predates social media.

But because it involves the NFL and ESPN is reporting it, it will become a big story.

Damn these guys are adults, this not college, the coach is not responsible for what the players do in their free time. Herm gets a pass on this one.

Ben Roethlisberger is shocked that players are behaving this badly.
Seriously, though, where does setting up a possible brothel in a hotel room rank on Goodell's punishment meter?

Whether it's passes during the season or bombs in the off-season, rest assured Dwayne Bowe is always dropping something.

I am shocked and outraged. Instead of importing groupies, I think athletes should buy local.

Wouldn't be surprised if the whole thing wasn't bought and paid for by a certain segment of society looking to influence the outcome of games for profit.
