I'm pretty sure they never screened movies like this when I was in college

We got crap like Pretty Woman. The Entertainment Council at California-Davis will be screening Pirates II: Stagnetti's Revenge tomorrow night.

No, they're not the Johnny Depp kind of pirates — they're the kind that come from Porn Valley.

We got a screening of Pulp Fiction. That's about it.

  3. Nice to see that the porn industry's campaign to reach out to America's universities is going so well.

UNH screened "Y Tu Mama Tambien".....not hardcore, but I think it was NC-17.

Considering all of the various co-ed/cheerleader/naughty teacher scenarios that have been, um, played out on the sets of these movies, you could almost say the industry owes it to the education system.

I had private screenings in my room four nights a week.

College in the '70s must have been more freewheeling.

As one of the co-ordinators of the film society, I counted on the profits from one night's screenings of an X-rated film to subsidize a bunch of critics' darlings. We showed things like Fritz the Cat or Ken Russell's The Devils once each semester.

Then the administration got their back up about a choice (I think it was Pink Flamingos), and claimed we couldn't defend booking it in an academic setting. So we booked The Devil in Miss Jones instead, and found a professor who fancied himself an iconoclast to talk about the influence of Sartre's Huis clos on the script.

They left us alone after that. 8)

Way different back in my day, although admittedly this is high school we're talking about.

We saw Sex and Lucia, a film in spanish that has some of the hottest actresses I've ever seen running around naked for most of the film.

Alright my alma mater made the news!

Yep, that's where I learned to squirm while watching Debbie Does Dallas and Behind the Green Room for $1 with my other drunk buddies.

Glad to see college stays the same.

I saw a screening of "Dumb and Dumber" while at a collegiate journalism convention in New Orleans in November 1994. Got all sorts of swag (T-shirts, tapes, hats, pens). If I only knew that 15 years later "Dumb and Dumber" would be an appropriate title for this goddamn industry, maybe I would have left my career at Pat O'Brien's.
