With the degree from your alma mater, I thought for sure you'd be headed for a career as a custodial engineer or food service industry,...

His old job will be filled.

There is, of course, a downside to that for whomever gets that job....

Two words. The second one is "you." Care to guess the first?

Why do I think his former place will be left to do more with less?

Nah.. it will be filled quicker than his old boss touching bottom at an all-you-can-eat-pasta-bowl at Olive Garden.

Even though I have only been at my current gig for about 16 months, I started searching pretty hard in March when I was furloughed the first time. I would spend maybe five hours a week searching and applying for jobs. Some weeks there would be nothing and then some weeks there would 10-15 places that would get resumes. Sometimes I would just fire off 20 resumes a night through "quick apply" on Careerbuilder.
I came close to landing a job working as a web editor for a pro sports organization in the summer but then things dried up again. Didn't have any interviews or call backs until November. All of a sudden I got three calls in one day and got interviews with three places. The place I landed with was a place that I applied to work for in August. I had completely forgotten about the opportunity and apparently they did too.

You just have to be persistent. Good luck.

And to answer someone's earlier post, I think the knowledge of social media helped, but I'm not sure how much. It certainly didn't hurt my chances.

Definitely not love, there has not been a lot of love in the newsroom lately.

I think our paper may even be the home of a new reality show on Fox called "When Photographers Attack"

See, Slappy, you made me laugh, and you have no idea why.
