I'm not gay, I just sodomize other boys (Wrestling story in NY Times)

I believe this has been adopted by the national high school wrestling federation, so it's happening across the country, not just Pennsylvania. Did a story on it when our state adopted it a few years ago. I had the same concerns as BYH, but after watching the program implemented, I felt a lot better about kids making weight.

What's your stance on the anal foreplay and the sexually transmitted diseases?

One of the web comments on the Fresno article:

"He could probably get a recommendation to work for the TSA."

    :D

    ===============

LTL, if the situation happened as described in the article, that was sexual assault and the 17-year-old should be criminally charged. End of story.

I'm not a fan of wrestling. Not my thing. But I've had to cover my fair share of it and as described above, I was happy to see a strict methodology for monitoring weight put into play across the country. Just pointing out it wasn't limited to Pennsylvania.

You don't/can't get herpes from the mat. Herpes is spread through skin-to-skin contact. The virus doesn't survive long outside the body. Also the type of herpes that tends to spread among wrestlers is not genital herpes but a strain called "herpes gladiatorum" that is more akin to the strain that causes cold sores in that the infection is usually around your head.

There are fungal and bacterial infections that can spread via the mat, which is why responsible programs will disinfect their mats a couple of times a day. But herpes is not one of them.

It was that horrifically poor description of the move that required the story to have both a prominent clarification and a follow-up story:

No one in the wrestling community teaches kids to put "fingers in the anus" of their opponents.

Wait, wait, wait. I'm no wrestler, but my brother was a very good high school wrestler, and I can remember him talking about competitors who used "goosing" as a technique very similar to what is described here. Even though he denied doing it himself, he seemed to consider it just one of the hazards of taking to the mat.

"Everyone does this to motivate people who don't move on the mats," Hill said, according to the police report.

Question is will Hill be someone's bitch in juvi?

No one taught them that move? It just comes naturally?

I graduated high school in 2000, and I had a good friend of mine who pretty much starved himself during the season to make weight. It was incredibly unhealthy.

I remember another guy on the wrestling team who ran about 4 miles with about 8 layers of clothes on, then he crawled under a mat and just lay there, hoping to sweat 8 pounds. This was 10 years ago.

Of course, there were also wrestlers who said, "Screw that, I'm going to do whatever I want to do and whatever weight class I'm eligible for, that's where I will wrestle."

There's nothing natural about sticking your thumb up someone else's butt.
And if there is, then I'm happy to be the exception.

One thing for sure, this thread has made that whole gay porn scandal within the wrestling community a lot more understandable.
