You've already done it twice. Can't get much sadder.

So here it is, the 2007-08 SportsJournalists.com NIT. Your defending champion is Christopher "I accidentally named my kid after an anarchist" Jones, who once again takes the place of the puppy-killing Hondo despite his relatively low post total

This is mostly based on post totals, with a few exceptions. Despite their recent returns, Chuck "Squiggle" Taylor and Tommy_Dreamer have been replaced. Sorry fellas. PopeDirkBenedict got the heave ho because of his hiatus. In their stead will appear Central Illinoisian and Forever_Town because they wanted to play and EStreetJoe because, well, fuck it, let's include the guy in something.

Voting will close Monday at midnight eastern or whenever 11 people have voted, whichever comes first.

    So without further ado:

    Writer's Workshop region
at Goddard High School in Roswell, N.M.
    No. 1 Novelist_wannabe vs. No. 8 Smallpotatoes
Novelist_wannabe overwhelms the spuds to a comfortable 75-62 win.

    No. 2 jgmacg vs. No. 7 dog428
jgmacg's amoeba defense totally frustrates dog428 to the tune of a 53-34 score after dog428 shoots 29 percent from the field.

No. 3 Gutter vs. No. 6 Friend of a Friend
With Eric Byrnes cheering his team on, foaf pulls off the 63-62 stunner with a 3-pointer at the buzzer, though people forget the 15-2 run he pulls off to get there.

    No. 4 Dixiehack vs. No. 5 leo1
Dixiehack wins a game where defense is an afterthought, 82-74.

No. 1 Chef vs. No. 8 Central Illinoisian
Fresh off the NCAA tournament snub, Chef makes mincemeat of Central Illinoisian to the tune of 94-57.

No. 2 Jones vs. No. 7 Twoback
Jones is just too good. Final score: 98-66.

No. 3 bigpern23 vs. No. 6 Norman Stansfield
In the second 6 beats 3 upset, Norman Stansfield proves the naysayers wrong 58-57.

No. 4 Hammer Pants vs. No. 5 EStreetJoe
    Bruce magic. Enough said: 82-73.

No. 1 Johnny Dangerously vs. No. 8 John
The LiveStrong mojo serves Johnny well once more: 83-70

    No. 2 Spaceman vs. No. 7 Smasher_Sloan
A surprisingly close game, but Bill Lee's ghost comes back and alters a last-second shot in a 64-62 victory.

No. 3 Gold vs. No. 6 Cadet
    Not a good tournament to be a 3 seed, I'm afraid: 68-65

    No. 4 ondeadline vs. No. 5 93devil
Gotta give props to ondeadline. Sorry devil, but I've meet the guy in person: 70-64

at Artesia High School in Artesia, N.M.
No. 1 Frank Ridgeway vs. No. 8 Forever_Town
Some folks say being an assistant coach for mike311gd's NCAA tournament team is a distraction, but forever_town's head coach won't hear of it: 69-68.

No. 2 lugnuts vs. No. 7 goalmouth
lugnuts is just a cooler name: 73-69

No. 3 Double Down vs. No. 6 writing irish
The only No. 3 seed to win the opening round games, Double Down does so with surprising ease: 84-68.

No. 4 Huggy vs. No. 5 Sxysprtswrtr
A lack of vowels doesn't hurt Sxy. 77-56

    There you have it!

John against JD just isn't right...
Both of them are good friends, although am still waiting for John to by me a beer -- or have his ex-boss do it. My Outback tab was 30 bucks that night... how about you just pay that instead?

I'd say that's an apt name for our bracket. I mean, Double Down as a No. 3? Dayum!
