From what I can tell from my twitter feed, and various news headlines I've seen in the last 48 hours, the biggest news to come out of Sydney wasn't the hostage situation, or even the show of support for Muslims with the #illridewithyou campaign.

By far, the biggest news was that Uber instituted surge pricing in the area around where the hostage situation was occurring. And, noble journalists across the globe shamed them into rescinding it.

Another victory for journalism, and the power of social media.

Because one guy did it, you say fuck all Muslims. Interesting that when one white guy shoots up a school you don't say fuck all white guys.

 

Seems rational for the media to shame Uber as journalists seem to rely on it.

I think this guy and many of the angry white man shooters suffer from the same complex ... didn't get the requisite number of blow jobs they believed they were entitled to.
