You confilct is the same as mine. But if the NFL can make a profit on photos, then can't the ISHA or a similar organization (even the NCAA) do the same? Using profit, in this case, as money that would be reinvested in the association's programs, not go to shareholders.

I don't find it surprising in the least that an SID agrees with a high school governing body. Shocker! Selling photos is the same as selling newspapers. A photo journalist tells a story the same as a writer. Both are for sale.

Congress authorizes and funds the Dept. of Education which in turn funds the athletic association. Therefore, by the transitive property, Congress is abridging the freed of the press by allowing the school board to regulate what they can and can't do with the photos they take.

That has nothing to do with it. The IHSA isn't forbidding these papers from shooting the events. They're just not letting the papers onto the sidelines, nor do they have to. It's a privilege, not a right.

Personally, I think it's bullshit that the IHSA is doing it, but it's well within their rights.

To prohibit them simply because they refuse to agree to have their freedom abridged is a violation of the U.S. Constitution.

They're not prohibited from selling photos. They're prohibited from getting a sideline pass that the IHSA can issue to whomever it sees fit.

    What amendment is that?

Where in the Constitution does it say someone has a right to be issued a special sideline pass?

The Constitution has no bearing here, for fuck's sake. IT. HAS. NOTHING. TO. DO. WITH. THIS.

14th amendment = protects minorities and women
1st amendment = protects the media

Protection from what? The media isn't being prohibited from attending the event. What part of that don't you understand?

    From their freedom being abridged.
