Check in on any school of social work at ANY college. I'll give you a buck for every conservative you find. A friend in Texas went to a graduate school of social work. He said discussions were always centered on: Hate Rush Limbaugh...Hate Sean Hannity....Hate Bush.....Hate Fox News... Adopt European socialism.

That's because, by nature, liberals see a problem crop up, and want to help. Conservatives, by nature, shrug their shoulders and say it's every man for himself.

Only took three pages for the thread to degenerate into posters throwing stones at conservative/liberal strawmen.

    You folks are slipping.

    Very vague.

You could argue "want to help" really means "want government to help" or "want the rich to pay higher taxes so government can help".

And oftentimes a "problem" is self-inflicted, and people are offended at having their tax dollars help pay for other people's poor judgment.

Too many variables for such a broad brush.

    I'll give an example.

You get a TV news station running a story on a restaurant with unsanitary conditions (like mice running around the food in the kitchen).

Now, I'd think the vast majority of us would agree that mice running around food is not a good thing and would want something done about it.

But yet, for a lot of years in this country's history. conservatives were against sanitary laws. Their rationale was "Buyer beware". Liberals were the ones for these laws. And muckraking journalists were considered the "liberal meda" back then, for exposing issues like this, and rallying the public to demand change. Conservatives claimed that a business owner should be able to do whatever they liked. It was their business.

And today, very few people would blink at a TV station exposing a dirty restaurant, even while shouting out that they're members of the "liberal media." I've argued this before. I think by nature, the majority of the media is liberal. Because when they see something happening, they report it. Conservatives say, "Well, that's life."

Look throughout history. We've progressed, as a country, thanks to liberals. Conservatives were against independency, against freedom for slaves, against voting for women, and against fair labor laws, among other things. That's because liberals see something that seems wrong, and want to fix it. Conservatives shrug their shoulders.
