Ignorant or racial profiling

    I'm thinking he didn't believe people would know what a "yarmulke" is. Or his editor didn't.

    Of course, most people probably read it and thought "does he mean a yarmulke?"

    At our shul, it's kipah, oop.

    I've heard skullcap before, but then, I've heard beanie before, too. ??? :)

    Dumb.

    Fyi, yarmulke is the Yiddish term....kipa/kippah is Hebrew. Kipot is the plural. So kipa would technically be correct. Like difference between do-rag and headscarf. (Or in Yiddish, schmatta).

    Skullcap has been the English translation for Yarmulka long before it had any other connotation.
