    Even $15 an hour in some places is impossible to live on for an adult with a kid(s). But it's also ridiculous that some 16-year-old kids would be guaranteed that much to do that job and usually do it poorly.

    Which is sort of the point of the original quote.

    The minimum wage is not meant to be a wage at which you can raise a family. It's a starting wage, made by folks just entering the workforce, by waiters (who usually actually earn more), and by folks who choose to work part time:
