He's laughing at how it got in nearly 400 newspapers in the first place.

Of course, the state of newspaper comics is so piss poor that it's hard to judge this one without judging nine out of the 10 that surround it in any given paper.

I can't believe I have to explain that "about a conservative duck" is a funny phrase to me. Maybe I'm the only one...

    Mystery, I'm being facetious.

Winman's equating "400 papers" as some sort of good housekeeping seal of approval is kinda funny.

    Conservative fuck. Now that's funny.

Oh. I hate walking into the middle of a deadpan joke.

You would think, given how culturally conservative comic strip creators tend, that someone would create a GOOD conservative one. But even Prickly City, the best of the bunch, has gotten ham-handed and lame. Course, both still beat the hell out of B.C.

I thought ducks were more centrist and geese were conservative.

Also, as conservative ducks go, here's your winner:

Well, not Canadian geese. They're definitely liberal.

  12. The Duck is the perfect example of Wingnut Welfare, ideological affirmative-action at its finest. It exists in most of those 400 newspapers because that's easier than getting mau-mau'ed by the rightist whine machine if you pulled it for being less funny than Rex Morgan, MD, which it is.
