Can they afford to get rid of him, even if they wanted?

I read somewhere if the Tigers blow it they'll be the first team in history to be in first place every day after May 10 before losing the division in the final week. Somebody has to answer for that and I bet it's Leyland.

The Phillies didn't fire Gene Mauch after 1964. The Dodgers didn't fire Charlie Dressen after 1951. Why fire Leyland because the Twins stopped losing?

I really thought the first post was going to say "when do the riots begin?"

But then I realized those will also happen if the Tigers win.

If they dump him and don't have to pay the $18 mil, they can afford to cut the rest of the garbage: Willis, Bonderman, Robertson. That goes a long way to setting them up for the future.

The riots migrated north to East Lansing in the 90s. No riots after the Wings or Stones titles.

I was thinking the fans might be so ticked off they'd have to build some houses, rehab some cars before the riot just so people could tell the difference.
