Which brings up an off-topic point. Although I use the term on occassion, as in the joking reference above, the idea of "white" people is a bad idea. Not logical or consistent, as the various definitions of "white" have shown through the years. And, of course, destructive.

But I'm always irked by those damn forms where I'm asked my ethinicity and "white" seems to be the only choice for me. Solution: mark "Other" and write in "Atlantic Islander." :)

Zeke, the proper way to make tator tot hot dish is with green beans, not corn.

We don't want to confuse the non-believers.

You look in any good Lutheran Church cookbook.

    It's green beans.

Tator tot hotdish has green beans and that's all there is to it.

I can vouch for this viewpoint -- my stepmother, proud native of Glenwood, swears it's green beans and green beans only.

But the rebel faction of my family goes with corn.

I prefer corn, but concede tradition to the green bean folk.

    It's not a casserole!!

It's hot dish. No wonder you're confused.

Is "tator" the heavy metal spelling? Or Nordic spelling? Are there umaluts on the "o"?
