This is one of those where I feel the kumbaya rising in my heart. Exceot about Coburn, who is a kook. (He wants to execute abortion doctors. And if you haven't googled "Coalgate lesbians" yet, do so immediately.) And McCain's bipartisanship recently has consisted of an anti-torture bill that still allows torture and the "Gang Of 14" judges compromise by which Democratic senators preserved the filibuster by promising never to use it. Forgive me if I don't think "bipartisanship" is the magic word some people think it is.
But you're right about the revanchist Right. They may sit this one out and, when and if McCain goes down, cry that he wasn't "conservative" enough. I wouldn't vote for the man for dogcatcher, but he doesn't deserve that end.
