You mean that treaty that was shot down in the U.S. Senate by a narrow 96-0 margin?

Forget it brother. You can go it alone.

And Clinton still signed the agreement in 1997, no? And then Bush came along and said, 'nope, not going to implement it.'

Of course, the longer the U.S. refuses to go along, the more it could hurt American business.

Any treaty having anything to do with fossil-fuel emissions is useless without China or India on board. Face it.

But how can you get China or India on board if you're not going to do it yourself? You need to do this, don't mind what we're doing over here.....

I'll give some credit, they do apear to be trying to achieve something as of right now, but we don't know what the goals are, or when they'll be implemented.

  6. And Clinton signed it knowing full well the Senate never would approve it. It didn't fail by two or three votes. It went down in flames.

So Clinton figured he could look like he was doing "the right thing" while knowing it never was going to pass. Typical.

At least Bush was honest about it.

If 'honest about it' means 'refuse to curtail the largest polluter in the world', then sure.

China and India aren't going to get on board regardless of what we do. That was apparent from the get-go.

How was he going to curtail China?

So an Indian an American and a Chinese man got into a car at the top of a hill they all looked at each other and said whose driving this fucking thing? Then the emergency break gave out....

Here's the chart from when Bush decided to reject the treaty:

Despite what that says I'm not even sure we're the biggest polluter on this continent. Spend a few days in Monterrey, Monclova, Chihuahua or Juarez then get back to me.
