    He was treated like royalty in Indiana from the time I moved there until about 1990 or so. The poor man's Mellencamp.

    I'm with you. And I actually like the 80 cheese. I have NEVER heard of this guy nor heard his songs until I was youtubing them today.

    I was a kid in Indiana in the 80s and remember him being huge. All his songs were in heavy radio rotation along with Johnny Cougar, and I just thought he was big star. I seem to recall him being a regular on Bob & Tom -- long before they were syndicated -- back then, too.

    It wasn't until my high school years in the early 90s that I started to realize that he was really mostly a local phenomenon who had a couple of modest national hits.

    It makes sense that the poor man's Mellencamp would be busted taking the poor man's drug.

    I wouldn't call it a hit, tho it did get some airplay for a few months. One of a plethora of artists who got a touch of notice and never had a backup plan.
