I went to the east side today.

East St. Louis that is. And I survived to tell the tale.

 

I highly recommend "The Right Kind of Heroes" (I'm pretty sure that's the title) by Kevin Horrigan. It's about Bob Shannon when he was East St. Louis High's football coach. It's a great read and still is on my bookshelf a good 15 years later.

 

Dude, the strip joints and massage parlors are further north.

 

Oh, I've heards a dem joints in Brooklyn.

I used to have to go there regularly. Always was worried I'd come out to find my car up on blocks.
