I think this Bob Ryan column has been misinterpreted

I'm curious on others' take on this. In this column, http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/articles/2009/06/18/after_sosa_when_will_it_end/?page=2

it seems to me that Ryan is lamenting a culture that presumes Latin players guilty of steroid use. As far as I can tell, he's not justifying the labels or the presumptions; he's disturbed that the cloud of suspicion is so thick.
Am I right in my interpretation?

I think this person is off base: http://sportsonmymind.com/2009/06/22/batting-while-brown-baseballs-revised-racism/comment-page-1/#comment-31423

    What do others think?

you guys can do it yourself by clicking on "previous" at the end of the column, but if you insist:

Ryan's column was fine. The second piece is by an anonymous blogger (MODI). 'Nuff said.
