I need a hug

Major fucking work screw up tonight, and I'm just... yeah. Depressed. Something. God dammit.

I originally had more, but it's not even worth that right now.

 

Sorry, Smash, but think of it this way:

You'll probably fuck up even worse at some point in the future.



So feel bad now, know it's because you know you can do better...and then let it go.

Smash, been there, done that, in a (what I hope is brief) rut now. Go home, get some sleep, wake up the next morning and come back rarin' to go.

 

It never seems as bad the next day. Sleep on it.

No idea what you did, but as long as it's not a curse word in a story or a headline or something like that, you get to do it tomorrow.

That's one of the beautiful things about this business: You get to do it over again tomorrow. Blank slate.

 

I didn't do it. Well, not really. I could have put one more safeguard in place, but that's about it.

Long story short, I worked my ass off on a story, and the wrong version ran because of a series of assumptions. We don't know if we'll run the real version or not - my SE will decide that tomorrow. I didn't find out until I checked our website tonight because I'm out of town. and by that point it was far too late to fix it.

I need a puppy or something or to be hugged by that cat. But definitely not a hug from Bob.

 

It's happened to all of us. Unless you're on the hot seat or did something that will involve future litigation, you should be fine.
