I love New Orleans, but they sure make it hard sometimes

William "Refrigerator" Jefferson re-elected to congress. It's almost like they're trying to appear as inept as possible down there.

    District demographics dictated that result.

    Business as usual.

    Nagin called it, Chocolate City.
You'll excuse me if I don't care about rebuilding NOLA anymore.

WWL TV in New Orleans was dissecting the election a few minutes ago.

I only caught a segment of it but they were alluding to some impact Jefferson Parish Sheriff Harry Lee may have had on the election. Apparently Harry hated Karen Carter.

Hard to believe that old coot has that kinda clout.

By the same token we are talking New Orleans. And New Orleans politics. For chrissakes Nagin was re-elected.

Nagin promised a Whitman's sampler in every FEMA trailer.

  9. What demographics? Both candidates were black. Both were Democrats.

You obviously haven't followed Louisiana politics for a while. It's always been inept. Never had to appear that way because it is that way. And man do I still love that state.

  11. Jefferson also went to the gay-baiting card in the late going.

He also became a strident anti-abortion candidate.
Between the corruption, the gay bashing and the anti-abortion demagoguery he's in line to become both the next Republican Vice Presidential Candidate and the Chariman of the Congressional Black Caucus
