    If ever a situation called for parallel style, it's a murder case in which the primary dispute is which of two persons involved was the aggressor. Both Martin and Zimmerman should be referred to by last names.

    It's done a lot in stories where several people with the same last name will be quoted.

    One reason first names are used for minors is that in stories mentioning minors the parents are often named as well. Generally, they would all have the same last name so it gets awkward to use everyone's full name in all references.

    Yep. Pretty cut and dry. It would behoove most people here to actually know the stylebook before shitting bricks.
