I just saw the new Orville Redenbacher ad

Thanks for the thread. I was creeped out and curious.

The speaking doesn't match his mouth movements and it's obviously not him (well, alive).

It makes me want to throw out my popcorn I've already bought.

Wonder what SportsJournalists.commer Orville Redenbacher thinks about this?
It looks and sounds so fake.
    Just rerun an old commercial.
Or take Orville from an old commercial and impose him in a new one (like Fred Astaire and the vacuum cleaner).
They must figure anyone under 30 won't know the difference.

An entire staff should be fired for that commercial.

Will never by that popcorn again.

Is it even necessary? I assumed it was the top-selling popcorn anyway, and I can't remember the last time I saw a popcorn ad on TV.

Remind me to buy a Jiff Pop tin at some point in my life before they stop selling it.

Sad, but I can remember when you made popcorn on the stove, kernels, oil, put in a pot, and shake.
Of course, Jiffy Pop was fun but it always burned a bit.
Then we had a device that used hot air, which was cool because it had a compartment that melted butter.
    Gotta love progress.

I think if they had taken the real Orville Redenbacher's rotting corpse and used puppet strings to move his mouth and arms and legs it would have been slightly less creepy than this ad...

This whole think is really creepy. They spoofed it on Best Week Ever and I don't think I laughed. Shivered, yes. Laughed or craved popcorn? No.

I remember he ended one commercial with BOOYA! Never again did I view fried poultry the same way.

The Burger King is gonna be pissed -- they're stealing his 'creepy' schtick.

Looks like he just stepped out of the "Thriller" video.
