I've never seen that bug, at least I can't remember. It's quite possible that I blocked out and my retarded sister saved the day.

    This?

I've always called them roly-polies (polys? What's the plural of that?).

Those are what I've always considered potato bugs.

And I can go to bed now, with quite the load off my mind. Thank you, kind Smash.

That's kind of weird that a bug gets coined a potato bug when there's already a bug called a potato bug. At least I think so.

Reading the information on wikipedia on that bug was actually kinda fascinating. They apparently live in family groups with mom and dad bringing food back to the baby bugs. I didn't realize any bugs had family groups.

Every time I've been to the Midwest (mainly Kansas/Missouri) during the summer, I've seen these flying insects that'll land on your skin and then start break-dancing till you swat them. What are they?

    I call them BYH bugs.

That's not a potato bug. That's a pill bug, saw bug or rolly polly.
Or as my two-year old calls 'em: "Dad! A pokey pokey!"

yup -- pill bug. rolly polly is also acceptable and more widely used.
