  1. hi guys. I am an 8th grader, who is big into journalism, and sports broadcasting.
I joined bleacher report the other day to start writing articles to help my self and was hoping to receive feed back from people in the business.
http://bleacherreport.com/users/270914-thomas-prizeman: this is my page, and my article links are on there.
And I know people do not like bleacher report, but it does give young people a platform, and good practice at being in the field. And just because i am not at a game does not mean i can not write a story on it. I think Bleacher report does help young journalist (like my self) who can work at the craft. And because of this i think it will make more kids appreciate and enjoy journalism.
    Thanks, Thomas Prizeman
Update: Used some tips everyone gave me and wrote this (it is edited) http://bleacherreport.com/articles/362191-pat-venditte-more-than-a-gimmick?just_published=1
    hope you guys like it
also i have decided to create a blog:http://standstories.blogspot.com/
the blog will cover all my stories from the bleacher report plus stuff about my life.

If you ever work at a place that covers a lot of teams, you'll actually be writing about a lot of games you aren't at. So actually, this is a good thing.

One thing: Listen. A lot. To a lot of people. Coaches. English teachers. Journalism teachers. Soak it in. It looks like you're just getting going, so look from feedback from people who can give it to you face to face and point out the good things as well as the flaws. And do not be afraid to take the bad with the good. If you don't develop the ability to shake off the harsh comments, it will be really tough.

    Good luck.

    Thomas,

I think Bleacher Report has too many ads with scantily clad women for an eighth grader to visit. You should write for a more wholesome publication.

Does the Christian Science Monitor need stringers?

i try to. i recently was written about in the local paper for doing PA announcing for my High School's Boys and Girls basketball, and also baseball. I have been trying to get an internship there but 2 times people said they would talk to the sports reporters and 2 times i have heard nothing else. i write for my middle school paper but that comes out every 2 to 3 months and i have a very small amount of room. I remember when i was about 10 i went to the Pre-season NIT, and i met a man who broadcasting on espn360.com. He was as nice as could be, showed me everything, and it was a learning experience. I went to sports broadcasting camps, every avenue to get into sports broadcasting and journalism i have tried.

Um... the last 2 comments are confusing. Any help in critiquing any of my articles (http://bleacherreport.com/articles/361327-top-5-reasons-tiger-should-return-at-arnold-palmer-invitational , http://bleacherreport.com/articles/360597-new-yankee-stadium-brings-football-back-to-the-bronx , http://bleacherreport.com/articles/359946-not-againpanthers-lose-in-final-seconds-for-the-2nd-year-in-a-row ) would be greatly appreciated.

Get used to writing as much as you can in a small space. With the rise of shrinking advertisers and newspapers in general, many of us have been reduced from writing 30-inch features to 15-inch features. That's a big deal if you are trying to give a lot of depth with a story.
And as much as it drives me nuts, get used to the phrase "doing more with less" cause you will hear it a lot if you decide to go into this business.

Re: I am young and looking for a cretique

You misspelled 'critique' in the headline of this thread. It might be a good idea to correct it.

JC posted 'I' because you used lower case 'i' in error.

As you'll see, most of the writers here take grammar and spelling very seriously, since it makes us look bad when we make those mistakes.

  12. I fixed critique but I don't see the second one. Also any tips, or a critique on my work? Thanks
