Who wants to cover a game where somebody's using a bat like this anyway?

NOTE: That would also rule out covering any game involving David Eckstein.

i think you meant "mythical fairy creature david eckstein who hits with a 12-inch bat carved from candy cane."

  3. I'd like to be outraged and cynical about this topic, but I have to get up tomorrow morning and write a story about a local Bronco League team going to the region tournament. Complete with quotes like ``They're such great kids and this is a dream for them.''

I'm looking at the living room ceiling fan in a new light.

In that case, why don't we start putting up porn videos and Flash games, too? (Check that. Some places already have Flash games.)

The point isn't whether you get more clicks. You can get more clicks through any number of means. You should be striving to get them with items of actual journalistic value, rather than demeaning your product in the name of "a few more clicks."

Really? You're going to compare a newspaper sports section linking to a story about a LL team to posting porn or flash games? Come on, man. Argue your point better than that.

You have a problem with covering competitive fastpitch whiffleball?

    If it's 9-year-old kids, yes.

If it's female college students, no.

    Is it coach-pitch?

I would volunteer to cover a fast-pitch whiffleball game with a 47-year-old, overbearing father throwing plastic heat at a bunch of 8-year-olds.
