You know, what that article described sounded suspiciously like foreplay. Does that mean foreplay is a form of payment?

Rather than foreplay, I'd compare it to picking up girls in a bar. If there's five attractive girls in a bar with 30 men around, you're going to buy the girl you're interested in more drinks and spend more time talking to her for the same reason the monkeys spend more time grooming. You will increase your chances of taking this particular girl home by talking to her more and spending money on her. You also have fewer options to fall back on if you strike out.

If you're in a bar with 50 women around, you might buy a girl a drink, talk to her for a few minutes and realize she's not worth the conversation or the drinks and try to find another "target," for lack of a better word. You have more options and, therefore, less incentive to keep trying to up your chances with one particular girl.

Either that or it's like when the pizza boy gets to bone the hot milf for providing her with a large pepperoni. :D
