JournalismJobs.com - Job Listing - MULTIMEDIA HS SPORTS REPORTERS NEEDED, FULL- AND PART-TIME

    Description:

Join our exciting, fast-paced newsroom as a high school sports reporter covering the entire state of New Jersey for Dorf Feature Service, serving NJ.com, the state's leading media outlet, as well as close to 10 print publications.

Be on the forefront of digital media covering HS athletes who will go on to play in college and the pros ... Mike Trout, Kyrie Irving, Joe Flacco, etc...

Our office has sent our full-time reporters on to full-time jobs covering the New York Giants and Jets, Tampa Bay Bucs, New Jersey Devils and many others for various media outlets. We promote our part-timers from within, and help our full-timers go on to bigger and better things.

We have a proven track record of wall-to-wall coverage in NJ with significant growth the last few years at highschoolsports.nj.com. Our multimedia reporters will blog 24/7, write well-researched features, post photo galleries and polls to drive traffic while maintaining a high profile.

    We would like to see:

    • Bachelor's degree for full-time applicants, and experience in a related position (high-level college experience counts), but we will train qualified part-timers
    • Be local ... it would be much tougher to train out-of-state applicants
    • Display strong multimedia skills and at least rudimentary knowledge of coding
    • Be able to report, write clean copy and show solid journalism judgment and high standards
    • Understand the importance of aggregating copy and links
    • Show an ability and willingness to work independently
    • Show willingness to work a flexible schedule, which may include nights, holidays and weekends
If this fits you, we'd like to hear from you. Email résumé and a few clips to Todd Schmerler, Managing Editor, at tschmerler@njschoolsports.com
