    The few people that were left in Picher (from 20,000 to 800 in two decades) were stubbornly hoping that the buyout offers would increase. The Governor said today that the original buyouts will stand, even though the houses are no longer there. And there are no plans to rebuild. We've just witnessed the first town to die in... how long? 50 years? 60?

    This past weekend, my grandma was moving out of a house she had lived in for 51 years. On the final night she slept there, a tornado ripped through the neighborhood, downing trees and powerlines.

    Word is that because of the tornado, property values are going up.

    In high school, I scored 30-something points against Picher in that basketball tournament that's hosted at NEO every year.

    If I recall right, their team name is the Gorillas.
