Howard University suspends all intercollegiate athletics... or not.

    Seems to me the term "use the money for whatever you want" would catch the attention of even the most incompetent compliance director. Not at Howard apparently.

    Howard University has a bowling team that gives out scholarships.

    Intercollegiate athletics is one odd, odd world.

    I find it strange that Howard has not deemed it necessary to mention this on their athletic website at the time of this writing.

    It's probably more important to note the women's basketball team lost in the WNIT.

    Or maybe the person that runs the website is also suspended? :)

    Women's bowling is one of the sports that some schools use to balance out their male-female scholarship ratio. It's a pretty easy add because it's not very expensive.

    I've heard that if you have a 5-year-old and want to get her college education taken care of, put a golf club in her hands. More scholarship money than the talent pool dictates.

    I'm thinking women's bowling might be similar.
