Sure it is. It's just watered down before it goes in the barrel.

Went to the liquor store yesterday.

The 1.75L bottles of Maker's were of the 90 proof variety, but all of the 750ml bottles were 84 proof.

I almost always have a bottle of Maker's, and was out, but I instead went with a Bulleit 10 year old:

I've been using Buffalo Trace and & Templeton Rye in a lot of cocktails lately too.

As Yankee Fan said, they've obviously already got the 84 in the stores. I wonder how much they bottled. Are they going to sell it a lower price?

    Blanton's
    Woodford Reserve
    Basil Hayden
    Elijah Craig
    Eagle Rare, Reserve
    1792 Ridgemont Reserve

    That should get you started.

I would say Woodford Reserve Distiller's Select is the Tier 4 choice, with the regular Woodford Reserve being an elite Tier 3 choice. Same with Elijah Craig 18 as opposed to Elijah Craig 12.

My favorite Tier 4 bourbon is Van Winkle Special Reserve 12. It's exceptionally smooth but leans toward the sweet end of bourbon. If you prefer Knob Creek to Maker's Mark, then go with the Old Rip Van Winkle 10.
