Scotch would have about 50 tiers.

Back in the fat days of my wife's magazine, they had a Christmas party with a Maker's Mark station where hot women would take a glass, dip it in that red wax, then pour you a drink. Glass was yours to keep. Always think of that when MM comes up in conversation.

Always been a Woodford Reserve guy, but still, what a horrible idea.

One of my best friends probably buys at least one handle of Maker's Mark a month. He says he's going to stock up now, then not buy it again until/unless they relent and bring it back up to strength. He prefers it with a single ice cube.

I kind of like George Dickel as my middle brow, sipping neat whisky. I'm not sure if that makes me a poser or what.

It makes you not a bourbon drinker. Get that Tennessee swill out of here.

Maker's was my choice for sipping neat or with an ice cube until I tried Bulleit on New Year's Eve. Love that stuff. Haven't tried Pappy, but thinking I might seek some out next special occasion.

Not that I agree with all of this, but it fits nicely here.

Was in Charleston, S.C., last year and went to the Bellemont downtown with some friends. I watch a lot of Justified, so I thought I'd go order a Pappy for me and a friend, who was hosting all of us for the weekend. $60 for two. But fuck if that wasn't unbelievably good whiskey.

I wish I was man enough to drink whiskey.
