How many of you have a beard?

Hey ... I think I worked with that guy, too! He also would carry leftovers from his meals in the goatee ... always a big hit when he'd go shoot a cheesey photo at the local women's club event.

As for me, when I had long hair 13 or so years ago, I grew a beard, too. Too much hassle to keep it trimmed, was horrible during the summer humidity. Much easier to shave it off.

Full beard here. I've had facial hair of some variety since graduating high school; had a full beard since January 2008.

Right now it's pretty well-trimmed and, not all that sadly, going gray.

Jealous. Seems like even ijag has better facial hair than me. Every once in a while, I give it another shot, but always shave in disappointment. It never fills in on the sides, and even going with a goat isn't an option because it's doesn't fill in. (And the few strands that do come in are greying.)

I have the facial hair abilities of an 11yo.

Even now, I've been trying to go the soul patch route. Haven't shaved under my lip since before Christmas, and only a few scraggly-ass hairs are there. Just fucking pathetic.

I've had a goatee for almost 15 years. My wife has never seen me (other than photos) without it. I stopped shaving in December about two weeks before Christmas just because I felt like being obstinant. The full beard came in nicely. Along about Dec. 22 or so my wife says "It looks really good. Just make sure it's gone by the time we go to church on Christmas eve."

When I was 20 years and 3 months old, they raised the drinking age from 18 to 21.

I grew a beard so I could "pass" at the bars and party stores. It worked.

Sometime in July/August I was at work at the gas station, standing out on the asphalt parking lot in 100+ degree heat, and I said, "this fuckin' sucks." Went home and shaved it.

I still passed at most of the places I wanted to buy booze at anyway. They were mildly surprised a couple months or so later when I really did turn 21.

I did keep a mustache for 25 or so more years. Just your typical 70s/80s style "porn stache" (Unfortunately it didn't get me any porn roles).

Eight or nine years ago one morning I woke up and said, "what the hell," and whacked it (the mustache). For the first time in my adult life, I had a bare upper lip.

In 2006 or so, I decided to go hippie again for a few months and grew a full beard and stache again (as well as letting my hair go Keith Richards style). I kept it for a couple months and I noticed the beard part was coming in about 80% gray. (More recently, when I go scruffy for several days, the whiskers are coming in WHITE.) The hell with that.

I suppose when I go completely gray I might go for a neat beard for the distinguished look. Right now I ain't worried about looking distinguished.

I've had a beard most of my adult life. I trim it for job interviews, or for upcoming marquee picture day for a show I'm participating in the final Friday night of February.

    Here's my beard
    Ain't it weird

    It's just a beard

Grew it in college (early 70s), shaved once in '79 and my face hurt so much from the razor burn I grew it back immediately.
Had it until '04, when I needed a surgical procedure that required me to shave it off. My daughter (born in '92) had never seen me without a beard. Grew it back immediately because I'd rather be a graybeard than a pink-faced old man.

Have had a goatee since the summer of 1998. I looked too young clean shaven without it. That fall, I shaved it all off at one point. Neighbors in my dorm asked if I was 16 (I was 21 at the time). Finally, when one asked if I was 13 the goatee was back.
I did grow a full beard a couple of times, doesn't look too good on me. In the fall of 2008 I knew I was leaving my job and decided to grow a beard until getting the word. That lasted nearly a month and I was getting itchy by the end.
