It's also a way of honoring longstanding coaches who have become synonymous with the college they coach at. They probably can't change the arena name, I think the Dean Smith Dome was new when they named it for him, so what's the other option?

[blue]Doesn't AT&T sponsor Indiana's home court or did it just drop that sponsorship?

Isn't the court at the Carrier Dome named after Jim Boeheim?

Norm Stewart Court (court?) at Mizzou, nee Paige, Arena. Kroenke's still probably pissed about that.

Edit: Uh, yeah, that was Paige Laurie, not Kroenke. Those Wal-Mart heirs all kind of run together around here.

After four years of prosperity under Obama, I can see this as part of his platform as he runs again in 2012...

"Two cars and a college basketball court for EVERYBODY!

YOU get a court! YOU get a court! YOU get a court!!"

    Washington State's is Friel Court.

And if Washington ever names its floor, it'll be Ted Bundy (or whomever) Court at Bank of America Arena at Hec Edmundson Pavilion, which has to be in the running for longest name.
