Haven't had to go through six pages of discussion-forum searches to find the solution to a Linux bug in years.

I learned personal computing on Macs, which in my experience can do a whole lot more than PCs (design and whatnot). I never had one virus problem. The computer rocked. It lasted seven years. I've had three piece of shit laptops in the last 5 1/2 years.

    I will buy a Mac and I guarantee I don't regret it.

My Mac has lasted twice as long as any PC I've had, so I'd say we're even.

    On average, that's about right.

I'm certainly not saying Macs are bad. I'd say that for a vast majority of home computer users there won't be any real difference, and for the rest it'll be a balance. Some will need the near-universality of program compatibility with Windows, some will need the stability of a Mac, some will need the freeness and freedom of a Linux-based PC.

On average life, Macs are by no means eternal. Ask anyone who has worked for a CNHI paper what it's like to work on an old one :) Meanwhile, I can replace parts on my PC piece by piece as they become obsolete or wear out for a lot cheaper than buying a new one, so I expect my current computer to last pretty much for all eternity, albeit entirely turning over the parts every five to seven years. That's a lot cheaper than buying a new computer every few years, and you can't do that cost-effectively with a Mac :)

I've used a PC for 13 years. I am online a lot. I have NEVER had a virus. I don't get it. I don't click on stuff I don't know and I don't download stuff from people I don't know and I don't download stuff from friends who struggle with viruses...How do you get a virus?

BYH, maybe your issues stem from that lovely wireless network you piggy back off of. :)

My computer is an iBook G4. I've had it for over five years.

    It's still going.
