How did your paper play the texts?

Discussion in 'Journalism topics only' started by The Rules of Golf, Apr 19, 2007.

  1. How did your fishwrap/birdcage liner/rag play the NCAA proposed ban on text messaging? Ours took wire and inserted reaction from our local coaches. I bet this was a common play. Anyone else? Anyone get any good reax worth sharing?

If Podunk U's coach wasn't a first-class prick who "respected the media's job", we'd have done the same thing. As is, it ended up being one of only two non-local bylines in our rag today (Buherle's no-no as the other).

Oh, and Mr. Rules often improves his lie during seasons not winter.

  3. Does Podunk U. not have a basketball program? Last I checked, it has a coach whose outerwear can be spotted from across the Podunk River from the Podunk Press' offices.

Podunk U. does indeed have a select group of cagers, of whom their star pointe guard was columnized about by the esteemed Podunk Press SE today.

    Battle Creek, Michigan.

Had staff writers do the leg work; they talked to a couple of coaches at smaller universities in the area and some "expert," but didn't get a quote from big State U's. Also got a good graf about a local kid who bought an extra phone just to handle the texts.
