Really Dick, is there where you are going with this?

Yes. I am going with the extremely controversial contention that reader interest should not be determinative in what we put in the newspaper.

We are the gatekeepers. We still have to man the gate. Even if there is no fence.

And there's a line where you need to differentiate whether you're making the decision based on what your readership wants to see, or whether you're making the decision on very personal biases.

Because if you're making the decision on personal biases, perhaps you need more input from those around you.

Spare me your moral superiority, your comparison is ridiculous. thank you for trying to save the poor children.

I can't stand the attention these kids get at such a young age but since it is not obscene or illegal it should be covered appropiriately. That would be determined by local interests.

Fine. We should put a fully clothed photo of Katy Perry on A1 of the New York Times every day. Readers would love it. Not illegal. Not obscene.

What if she were dating a Little Leaguer? That would be both illegal and obscene!

Ready to listen when you are ready to state a case that is not just an ad hominem criticism of the messenger.

Claven, when you compare covering little league to Katy Perry being naked you don't deserve a proper response.
