How did you get this number?

    If possible use the person who gave you the number in your introduction, if the person who gave you the number thinks you are okay, it will help break the ice with the person you are talking to.

    Our office still has that AP phone list, too. It's got a lot of numbers of dead people, but it's still priceless.

    My reply if people ask how I got their number: "C'mon, give me a little credit. I'm a reporter."
