With all the things going on: the PGA Championship, local MLB, local NFL preseason, maybe local things like the start of football practice, etc.

  2. My old shop would have wanted a tab.

Probably outing myself, but whatever. I'm thankful I no longer work at The Columbus Republic for a wide variety of reasons, but definitely was a little extra thankful after waking up and hearing the news.

There were many Dale tabs after the Earnhardt death in 2001.
Typical newspaper executive behavior, really getting out in front of the story.

I'm going with a two-story front and Stewart is the dominant element.

The other story is off Sunday's Nick Marshall remarks - and we're in Mississippi mind you, but when Auburn sneezes everyone over here gets a cold.

PGA gets a good spot on a color Page 3, along with the actual NASCAR race.

News side took it from sports in our shop. I didn't get a vote.

We led Monday A1 with it (partly my call). The track is only a couple hours away. Race story on Sports 1

Tuesday, centerpiece on Sports 1, flowers at track and the AP story on the dead driver.

Today, stripped across the top of Sports 1 that he might face criminal charges.

NASCAR is a traditional Sports 1 Monday story here.

We pushed him over to the rail.

    Playing it on cover?
I know I am late to the party here, but Tony Stewart went 0-for-4 reaching the cover of the four dailies I edit.
