Houston, you should have gone with Bush...

Hey now, that wasn't me. I compared Williams with Bush, that's it.

David Carr has shown improvement in terms of accuracy and total completions, but he's still shaky and scared and, at least in Houston, it sounds like not only did the fans turn against him, but so, apparently, have some of the players (Eric Moulds is probably one of the bigger names, although he's been careful not to say anything to the public).

To me, the lack of a better offensive line and a QB who's not gun-shy and been on his back more than a prostitute is the bigger issue.

    CORRECTION:

In a previous post, Freelance Hack provided an incorrect attribution. The Backyardigan was the poster who compared Mario Williams and Julius Peppers rookie seasons.

    Freelance Hack regrets the error.

Absurd, especially based on what we've seen so far.
The guy is stunning and electrifying, dynamic, a good quote, and just all around "pure hell" as far as football players go.
Too often on this board, you (I.Net) seem to pick obvious truisms and go against them, just for the sake of going against them.
Bush was the best available player and the Saints capitalized on Houston's blunder.
    End of story.

Is he Eric Metcalf.... or Marshall Faulk?

    Closer to the latter.

bush could be really good in the next couple of years, but he really has to learn how to run the ball in the NFL. he needs to trust the plays and hit the hole, and stop trying to take it to the house every play. his longest run from scrimmage is 18 yards and he averages 3.2 yards a carry. not good when you consider his athletic gifts.

Reggie Bush has meant more to the Saints than his stats show for the reason that he is an incredible decoy. Defensive coordinators are scared shitless that if they don't tailor their gameplan to stop Bush, he will beat them all day long. Doesn't matter that he hasn't produced. They have all seen tape of him doing amazing things and don't want to set up his highlight reel.

That said, if he doesn't start to produce, at some point a d-coordinator is going to back off and not scheme for Bush. If Bush doesn't prove that he has it, it could make life much more difficult for the Aints.

Adding Cutler, Addai, Maroney, Kalimba Wembley and D'Angelo Williams to this rookie class isn't going to hurt its legacy, either. My goodness.

    I disagree.

He's better than Metcalf, no doubt, but he's a supplementary player, not a centerpiece.

If you look at Reggie Bush's Game log you will see he only has as been a difference maker in three games. His full season stats are miss leading and he certainly is not a great running back in this league. Kevin Faulk has made a living in this league catching passes out of the backfield. Reggie has not been good on the ground and it does not appear he will become one in the near future. He is great in space which really makes him a great threat in the passing game but does not seem to have good vision from behind the line of scrimmage and has a tendency to wait to long for a hole to develop or picks the wrong hole. He is a super athelete but will never be considered a every down back in this league.
