Going to Houston on a business trip in a couple of weeks and will be staying near the Galleria; any recommendations for an afternoon and/or dinner spots are greatly appreciated. (Unfortunately, doesn't look like it will sync with Warriors visit) Thanks.

I like Pappas BBQ. There are a couple close to the Galleria. Not real big on atmosphere, though.

    Ditch Houston.
    Go to Galveston.

If you have time, I know where you can get great deals on luggage, "designer" bags, jewelry, hookahs and more in a kind of storage unit strip mall a little west of there. No skating rink like the Galleria, though.

A little north of town, but I once enjoyed a meal at Facon Brazillian Steakhouse that made me long for sweatpants.
