I didn't see this posted on either Sports and News or Anything Goes, so if this is a d_b, I apologize in advance.

    1. "Towards" is not a word. Never has been. It's "toward."

    2. Just from reading the quoted passage I knew this idiot was from Texas. Clicked on the story and sure enough...

Incorrect. True for us (journalists). Not true for everyone, especially Brits.

    My bad.

My inner copy editor gets the shakes when I see "towards."

Maybe you need to direct your anger towards someone else.

Like that racist asshole hotel owner? For sure.

    (Thanks for changing the title.)

I was just messing with you. I'm a smart Alec in real life, so sometimes it comes out in anonymous message boards, too.

I've stayed in many a fleabag and never gave a shit if the cleaning lady or the dude at the desk was white, Latino, or Ukrainian.

Now blood smears on the wall ... we have issues. (crossthread)

I don't care if the hotel has staff speaking spanish, I mind when they can't speak English.

I went to a hotel in South Padre, Texas (I know) and nobody spoke English. Not the maids, not the lady at the front desk, no one. It was a hassle.

And I think the manager should be allowed to tell his employees to not speak Spanish. Dick move. But its his hotel. I don't see it as racist.

What a fool. He buys a hotel in a primarily Hispanic town and discovers that the people speak SPANISH!

Not only does this yokel not want his staff to speak Spanish in front of him -- he wants them to anglicize their names.

Maybe he should learn to speak Spanish
